Halo sahabat Kebuncerita, apa kabar hari ini? Hari ini, kita akan belajar grammar Bahasa Inggris. Materi yang akan kita pelajari adalah Simple Past. SIMPLE PAST

1.     Pengertian
Simple Past Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian yang terjadi dan berahir pada suatu waktu di waktu lampau.
Contoh Kalimat
a.     I went to the park yesterday.
b.     I bought a pack of bananas last week and it was cheap.
c.     I did not remember what he taught me last night.
d.     They were here two days ago.
e.     Andy did not hear when his parents called here last night.

2.     Struktur
Adapun struktur dari Simple Past Tense adalah sebagai berikut
a.     Kalimat Verbal
Untuk kalimat verbal, kalimat dengan kata kerja di dalamnya, maka struktur kalimatnya adalah sebagai berikut

Subject + V2
I ate the apple last night.
Kalimat negatif
Subject + did not + V1
I did not eat the apple last night.
Kalimat interogatif
Did + subject + V1?
Did you eat the apple last night?
Untuk kalimat verbal, kita harus mengunakan verb bentuk kedua. Dalam grammar Bahasa Inggris sendiri, verb atau kata kerja dibagi menjadi 4: Verb 1, V2, V3 dan V-ing.

b.     Kalimat Nominal
Kalimat nominal adalah kalimat tanpa verb di dalamnya. Dalam kalimat nominal, kita perlu menambahkan verb “to be”. Verb ‘to be” untuk simple past sendiri adalah ‘was’ dan ‘were’. Untuk penggunaan ‘was’ dan ‘were; perhatikan table di bawah ini

Plural subject: you, they, we, and plural subject.

To be + subject + adjective/noun/adverb?
Was he here last night?
Were the students happy last night?

3.     Pengetahuan Tambahan
Untuk menjawab pertanyaan dalam Simple Past yang diawali dengan ‘did’ dan ‘to be (was/were)’ maka kita hanya perlu menjawabnya dengan
ü  Yes, I did/ No, I did not (didn’t)
ü  Yes, I was/ yes, they were, etc
ü  No, I was not (wasn’t) / no, they were not (weren’t), etc
Contoh:
ü  Did you talk to them yesterday? Yes, I did/ No, I didn’t
ü  Were they angry in the last meeting? Yes, they were/ No, they weren’t
